| My chemistry teacher (who took the squash group) told me I was too crap at squash and chucked me out. I didn't want to do rugby as I was small, so I was looking for an indoor sport to do in our school sports afternoon. Spent one afternoon wandering around looking for inspiration... thought gym looked unbelievably boring ... and noticed some of my mates beating seven bells out of each other. And went straight up to the sensei, now a good friend, and asked to join. Never looked back and quickly went from doing 1 hour a week u to six as is now. My days of not being sporty are over, and those big rugby guys stopped picking on smaller people soon after I started Judo.
I had always wanted to do an MA as my Grandfather was a Royal Marine and had been teaching me what he called "dirty tricks" fighting (pressure points and similar) since I was about 6, and my great grandfather taught Jujutsu and unarmed combat to the Royal Marines. They are my inspiration, every time I need to find that little extra determination, I ask myself what they would do.
