| The metatarsals are very delicate. They can easily get a stress fracture, which is where they slowly break over time. Another member had one of these this year.
This means that you easily could have a broken bone without any specific injury.
Or, you could just have an inflamed tendon. It happens to me periodically. However, when I have inflamed areas around my metatarsals, they actually don't hurt to the touch. That might just be a difference between us, or it could be the difference between types of injuries.
Especially with two separate areas of intense pain, I'd suggest seeing a doctor and verifying that it isn't anything dangerous. Even if it's only an inflamed area, they may be able to help you with it.
