Home Country: | Hey ya'll....
The ATA WAS affiliated with the ITF at one time. If not directly, it was modeled after it. We were all recommended to buy General Choi's TaeKwon-Do handbook during the 1970's. The uniforms, Patterns and such. At one time, it had MANY of the NOW Big Name Masters in it, Hee Il Cho for one.
G.M. H.U.Lee taught the ITF Patterns till the ATA created Song Ahm (maybe mispelled) this is when I left the ATA. They were once known to be one of the TOP TaeKwonDo orgs. in the country.
They still create many good techs., but commercialism does seem to have taken over the Association and quality has diminished greatly.......
The ATA has had many splits since the late 1970s, and they lost some of their best people.
They were NEVER connected with the WTF in any way.
That's my 2 cents worth for free.
