Oh no, it's not just to elect a certain person. It's being to the forefront to affect policy, make sure people Like Jerimiah Wright and Jesse Jackson have a platform to stand on, and keeps liberals in business with certain special interest groups so they have their talking points.
Racism isn't a dead issue of course. There will always be racism, just as there will always be sexism and there will always be groups of people who distrust people of other religions, race, gender, sexuality, etc. And the fact is, race baiters like Wright and Jackson and Sharpton wouldn't have it any other way. What would they do without it?
