Lobbyist dont make as much as a politician in office. They are not bound my ethics laws in office, because while in office, they have power. Power to "escape much".
Their previous contacts will disasscoiate themselves, esp when the politician did some "unfavorable" stuff while in office.
It is about being in the "spotlight". If you are the hotspot, the deals and money flow in. Once out of the "light-hot spot', they trickle.
