Welcome 13rawler.
The legit BJJ schools in Baltimore that I know of are:
Baltimore BJJ (Lee Synkowski: Maguilla Purple Belt)
Crazy 88 BJJ (Julis Park: Lloyd Irvin Brown Belt)
Ground Control Academy (John Rallo: Renzo Gracie Black Belt)
Any one of these school is a great choice for training.
John Rallo is a huge beast of a man who has a lot of MMA experience. He is the real deal and has the most upper belts of any of the Baltimore schools.
Julius Park is a technical BJJ wizard, I have personally seen him tear through BJJ competition for years. He is known for his extreme technical approach to the game.
I don't know as much about Lee Synkowski, but his instructor Maguilla is a very good Black Belt from my area and any purple belt under him will be very good.
If you're looking to lose weight any of these programs are going to push you hard and you WILL see a difference quickly.
