I have a bum left knee so running on any surface is plain out for me. But I do put an hour in on the eliptical every day. I love it and swear by it you can get the awesome cardio benefits from running and absolutely no impact on your joints. On a good machine you can change the resistance on it to simulate different types of terrain. If it is in your means get and eliptical or join a gym that has one they're awesome!!!
