You make a very good point. I have said it before, and it is how I teach my students: "Is your training 'real'?" If you're not making it real in you rmind, then you are only hurting yourself. The stark reality is that in todays day and age, most people will not need to defend themselves in a physical altercation. But....it's better to be prepared and have it and never need it, than to not be prepared and really need it.
