Round 1
Sobral attempts to throw Sokoudjou to the floor but the Pride veteran is game. Sobral nearly finishes a takedown but Sokoudjou gets tied up in the ropes. Referee McCarthy restarts the fighters in the clinch along the ropes. Sokoudjou defends a trip and ends up in Sobral’s guard, where he tees off with right elbows. Sobral gets to his feet and fails on a single-leg attempt. Sobral clinches tightly with Sokoudjou in the corner. Sobral knees the thigh before McCarthy restarts the action in the center of the ring. A front kick from Sobral connects with the chest before time expires.
Round 2
A Sobral jab is countered by a hard Sokoudjou right uppercut. Sobral gets a takedown into Sokoudjou’s guard. Sobral hammerfists with his left hand and elbows with his right. McCarthy moves the fighters to the center of the ring in the same position. Sobral looks for a mount and transitions to a D’Arce to set up an anaconda choke. The hold is tight and Sokoudjou taps quickly.
Round 1
Belfort knocks Lindland stiff with a left hand. He finishes the job with some follow up pound. What unfolds next is down right frightening. Lindland is down for quite sometime, and even minutes later it seems as though he’s trying to single-leg a doctor. The ring is full of medical personnel as they hold Lindland down and force a neck brace on the out-of-it fighter. Finally, Lindland comes to and sits in a submissive manner and tells an EMT he’s fine. The brace is removed and Lindland walks out of the ring under his own power. The official time is 0:37 of round one.
Round 1
Yvel lands a hard low kick to the left leg of Barnett. Barnett clinches and Yvel tees off with short punches. Taking lots of punishment, Barnett smartly drags Yvel to the floor. From half guard, Barnett answers with elbows to the face. Barnett punches the head with his right hand and goes for a kimura. Yvel frees his left arm but Barnett immediately slaps on another kimura. From half-guard, Barnett tweaks the arm but he can’t finish. Barnett raises his posture to punch before advancing to side-control. Now back in half guard, Barnett applies another kimura before moving to mount. Barnett tees off and Yvel punches back. Yvel rolls over and takes a beating but he survives. Yvel stands and exhanges a punching flurry at the sound of the horn. Great round.
Round 2
Barnett gets a quick takedown to start round two. From half guard, he goes back to his trusty kimura. Yvel frees himself and does a good job of keeping half guard as Barnett tries to advance his position. Punches from Barnett clear a path to the mount. Barnett takes the dominant perch and punches the head with both hands. On the bottom in mount, Yvel returns fire from his back. A heavy elbow from Barnett finds its target. Yvel gets in punches from his back again, but pays for it. Barnett tees off. With 15 seconds remaining, Barnett goes for an arm bar and loses position. Yvel stands to end the round.
Round 3
Again Barnett wastes no time in taking the action to the floor. He quickly advances to mount and commences a beating. Yvel bucks trying to get Barnett off, but the effort is futile. Yvel exchanges blows one more time before rolling over and tapping from punishment at 3:01 of round three.
Round 1
Arlovski starts with a kick to the body and a right hand that clips Fedor. Arlovski lands a low kick to Fedor’s left leg. And one to the right. Arlovski continues with low kicks as he samples a hard left to the body. Fedor clinches with Arlvoski. The former UFC champion tries to throw Fedor, but Emelianenko has none of it. The pace slows as the fighters clinch on the corner. Fedor presses the bigger man against the post. Referee “Big” John McCarthy restarts the action in the center of the ring. Arlvoski lands a right hand and kicks Fedor against the ropes. Arlovski jumps for a flying knee and is knocked out cold by a Fedor counter punch. Fedor was on his way to dropping the first round when the punch landed at 3:14 of the first.
Round 1
High, stalking early, lands a high kick that is partially blocked. Hieron flurries back with a combination that backs off high. Heiron loands a crushing lead left hook that freezes High before he crumples to the mat. Hieron follows up with punches before referee Herb Dean intervenes. The official time is 1:04 of the first round.
I was hoping for the Arlovski upset but Fedor came through. He is a baaaaaaaaaaad man. who else can challenge him? They were talking about Josh Barnett but is he really in the same league? Guess we'll find out soon enough, if Affliction is still around by then.
