Congratulations. By the way, I just got my 16th degree. You will still have to refer to me as SIR.

He's really into music and he even has album(s) out. There is a pretty big fan site dedicated to his music. I was pretty surprised.

Wow, I'm surprised just hearing about that
It's strange that I never heard about that "singing career" yet I'm sure I didn't miss much

I have to agree when I first saw Steven Segal in Above the Law, I was pretty amazed. However, more and more Aikido demonstrations I watched, it almost looks like the attacker is just falling down at the slight contact of the demonstrator. I know, it's only a demo and they are not trying to hurt anybody but it just looks too choreographed.

Originally Aikido, being developed from Aikijujutsu, contained strikes, bone breaks (less gentle than the ones taught today), etc. However, Ueshiba, as he got older, got better and no longer needed the strikes as much, so he stopped teaching them. Aikido was originally only marginally different from AikiJujutsu, which itself, was just a more circular version of Jujutsu. There are still 'hard' styles of Aikido practiced, for example, Yoshinkan (the style spoken of in Angry White Pyjamas) seems to be a harder style as modern Aikido is concerned. At its pinnacle, all Aikido should be gentle and flowing a beautiful.
As far as Aikido looking too choreographed, it has to be, because if the Uke (partner) does not go with the technique injury will most likely result. Aikido done on non-Aikido trained people often results in broken or dislocated bones, torn ligaments, etc.

Steven Seagal IS a 7th Dan Aikidoka. It has nothing to do with him being an actor or lying.

Strangely enough Above the Law was inspired by the whole CIA funneling drugs in the US. Wasn't that the contra thing from why back?

Above the law was awesome. I dont care what anyone says, the old steven segal movies are classics. out for justice, above the law, marked for death, hard to kill....wow just reading all those movie titles makes me laugh.

Now I do have a serious question though: Who would win in a fight between Van Damme and steven segal?

I'll put my money on Segal, he may have gotten choked out by Lebelle but thats more then VanDamme never did...

Given that Van Damme's style( as far as I know, he's originally a krate practitioner) needs good physical condition and they're both old, I think that Steven Seagal would win.

And even if they were young, Steven Seagal would win, cause he's cooler.
