1.) Birds of a feather.....

2.) Right reason-injury?

Do you mean this thread....

Indeed, threads and forums become boring because it is the same rhetoric over and over...

Only the names change....

Have been doin taiji for only 5-6 years. I don't know why there are so many naysayers with pressure points. People can believe the benefits of so called "new age" medicine, eg acupuncture, tcm, which are along the same lines as pressure points.
I have used the points in martial applications but mainly use them in daily life for my own benefit and others.

Naysayers could be tired of the hype.

PPs and such, have its limits.

Much of the time people claim them for merit and/or profiteering

A lot of new age treatments have solid scientific backing to them, however just as many work solely based on the psychosomatic effect and some actually cause more harm then good. Before undergoing any medical treatment you owe it to yourself to learn the science behind it first, even if it is only in a very general way.

Anyone with a working knowledge of pressure points can dominate any art, especially if that person with the working knowledge studies a Chinese art. It's just a fact, and everyone knows it. If you say otherwise, it's because you study an art without striking, or maybe you wear gloves. Either way, it's a "sport" rather than a "violent art." And I only study Violent Arts.

I don't think you can ever call something like that "a fact" without backing it up with a lot of evidence. One is better than the other is more of opinion or a theory at best.

In addition to what complete said, I think it is very strange of a martial artist to call himself 'violent'. There is a difference between violence, fighting and self-defense.

Indeed. How an one prove the theory?

Medical explanations dislodge the "mystery", that otherwise many centuries ago would have seemed "super-human".
