WASHINGTON - Republican presidential contender John McCain, facing criticism from Democrats, on Thursday said he regretted using the word "wasted" to describe the more than 3,100 U.S. lives lost in the Iraq war.
"I should have used the word, sacrificed, as I have in the past," the Arizona senator said after Democrats demanded he apologize as Sen. Barack Obama did when the White House hopeful recently made the same observation.
"No one appreciates and honors more than I do the selfless patriotism of American servicemen and women in the Iraq War," McCain, a former Vietnam prisoner of war, said in a statement.
On Wednesday night, McCain said on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman": "Americans are very frustrated, and they have every right to be. We've wasted a lot of our most precious treasure, which is American lives."
True, very true. I do believe many lives were wasted, but they were true Americans who lost their lives for something they believed in enough to fight for. But high officials think of it basically like a child playing Age Of Empires. They have a large army, and have just send them in not necessarily with a smart plan, losing many more lives than necssary.

Be careful with the word "wasted". That was the whole point of apology, wrong choice of words, not what he said. The politically correct word is "sacrificed".
None of these politicians deserve their positions. We seriously need to retool how we pick these people. We need a serious morality clause. These people are the ones the paparazzi should be following to make sure he's not doing any dirt, not ARod.

Even the best of men are capable of the most disgusting evil. Just as the most evil man is capable of showing kindness.
Do not be fooled into thinking your enemy's sin is worse than yours, or that your's is better than his.
We seriously need to retool how we pick these people.
I seriously agree with that. Currently the person who wins is the person who is able to get the most votes: it comes down to how many people a candidate can convince to all do the same action. If it is through discussion and logic, that's fine, if it is through manipulation... well...
Many people here in arizona hates him but he is the leater of all the evils the years he up for re-election but I am not 30 years old yet so i cann't run.
