Infraction and Ban

Dear valued members,
In the spirit of making this a better forum as we go through some growing pains, we would like to point out what's appropriate and what's not appropriate in posting in this forum.

Everybody is volunteer here and no one is forcing anybody to be here. We all want the forum to be the best place for martial arts discussion. In order to do this, we have to have some ground rules - which I thought were obvious but apparently not to everybody.

We as martial artists have to have respect for one another, as a human being, even if the other person is of different race, color, sex, age, etc. and have completely different opinions from me. You are certainly are entitled to your own opinions, but it's not appropriate to belittle others and be rude to others for having different views from you.

And if you see any members breaking these rules, please let admin/and or moderator know the offending member/posts.

Here are the rules for infractions and ban, that applies to everyone.

Pornographic posting - automatic ban
Spamming - 1 fraction point.
Cussing - 1 fraction point
Calling names/belittling/rudeness - 1 fraction point

If you have 3 fraction points, you'll be banned from the site for 1 day
If you have 5 fraction points, you'll be banned from the site for 1 week
If you have 7 fraction points, you'll be permanently banned from this site.

All the fraction points are cumulative and do not go away.

I'm hoping we never ever have to enforce any of these rules, but for the good of the community, we will do what is necessary to keep few bad apples from ruining the whole apple cart.

Oh Cr@p, I didn't actually read this stuff when I first joined. So will I get in trouble for cussing with the following words which I have used on multiple occassions; Ass, Arse, Cr@P. Also have made fun of other members (all in jest).

This is a pretty tolerable forum. We typically don't give out many infractions and banning unless it's absolutely necessary. Please don't wear being banned as a badge of honor.

Click on your own username to go to your profile. You should see a tab for infraction. Most people will have nothing there.

I'm confused about the cussing.

I thought the really bad words were ok because they are edited automatically with **** marks.

So that being said if words arent edited at all, and there are some that make it through that filter, then which ones can we not type?

There are ways around the filter.....but I'm not doing anymore cuz I don't want to be banned. LMAO! I suppose if you want to try to bypass the filters, there is always a way, but if you do, you risk being banned. Complete is a gread admin, but he can't keep track of it all, which is why he has mods. He chooses those mods to do his work when he can't. I'm sure he is not laying the smack down just yet, but....he HAS given us all warning. Just play nice, and you won't have anything to worry about.Two [u]adults[u] really have no need to use profanities to express themselves. The constant use of profanities indicates (to me anyway) a lack of proper vocabulary. If this describes anyone here, then I suggest reading more. It helps to expand your vocabulary expodentialy(sp). (maybe not your spelling right away though) LOL

Yes, some are filtered but some gets through. I don't have an official list of cuss words. Just use your better judgment. If your parents or your children, or even your instructor or pastor were to see your post here, would you still not change anything?

That's a good way to put it. I also had a boss that would tell us when talking to customers to "Speak as if what you were saying was going to be on TV with your mother as the featured guest".

For the most part everyone does a good job. We have some that poke fun and that's cool, but we have had instances where people are just downright mean and insensitive - that's the kind of stuff that will not be tolerated. Everyone just keep doing what your doing - we all should know what is over the line.

I know that this forum is part of your overall business and so there a couple of other things you might want to post as infractions.

- Posting about tape trading/copyright violation. You don't want to get sued by Paramount or worse Zuffa for allowing people to use your site as an illegal trading site.

- Out right slander. Same reason, if you appear to be supporting slanderous material you could be sued.

Just something to keep in mind!
