General ChatDiscuss any non-Martial Arts topics here.
Even I didn't know about such feature on this forum software.
Use with caution.
We still want this to be a friendly martial arts online community where we can freely discuss and agree to disagree, not just turn our blinds eyes to people we don't agree with and only discuss with only the people who have same views. Unfortunately, if this is not possible then the next best thing to do is to not engage in a war of words, and instead just ignore, which was probably the reason why this feature was invented.
Interesting feature. I had noticed the ignore button but wasn't sure about what it did.

Indeed. Opposition of posting is a good way to get feedback and perhaps a way to change a view.

That post before mine, was that for post counting? How about the one after?

Yes to a certain degree. If there are legitimate opposing views that can be discussed in civilized manners and both parties feel that way. However, if the opposing view is opposing just for the sake of opposing and the discussion is turning into personal attacks, then it's destructive form of communication and not wanted in this forum.
Very convenient for blocking out trolls and buzzards.
Don't feed the trolls.

So per the above thread in bold above, is this a opposing discussion?
Perhaps the ignore list may have a advantage and is fallable.
One on such a list one could post many things and the person who can see such posts cannot retort. Therefore, there will be no opposition.
Another thing, if someone is not on the list, but quotes one that is, then that person and/or post (on the list) is stll seen and read.

The key is don't be on someone's ignore list. People come to this forum to engage in friendly discussion, not to ignore everybody and be a loner. If you end up on someone's ignore list, don't blame the person but it's time to start looking at your own self and figure out why people would rather not read anything you have to say.

I agree. Friendly discussions are fine, but with the subject of martial arts, or any, people have strong beliefs. Somw may say that these are idiotic, or whatever, would seem to go against a friendly opposition. Though others post strong opposition apart from what good posts one had made, or will make.
What I am also trying to say is that the ignore list wont completely make that person disappear.

After a while having someone disagree with you just to disagree is frustrating and tempers get flared.
You do have a point. Though not all disggreements are for the sake of arguing or causing frustration.
To ignore someone on recent events, though that had made good threads and posts in the past, will not see if they mellow or change, to a degree in the future.
Thus they will have better threads and posts that may be of interest

I chose when to ignore people myself. If they are being a troll I will not respond to their posts. If they bring something to the conversation then thats cool.
