What is a drunken boxing?

Is this similar to drunken kung fu? (See Jackie Chan's Drunken Masters)

I don't know much about this style except for what I've seen in several movies.

Why would you want to learn a style that's only effective when you are drunk?

How would you defend yourself when you are sober?

Drunken Boxing is not only effective when drunk (if effective at all). I just think it looks sweet. I have JKD and BJJ for effectiveness.

Good luck with your search. We have over 3,000 martial arts schools and links in our database but could not find any drunken boxing school.

Drunken Style is a fictional style made up by Jackie Chan for the Movie Drunken Master. You will see Wu Shu Chuan (this is a kind or martial acrobatics that is based on martial arts moves) practicing this form, but it is not actually a traditional style of Kung Fu. Hence you are unable to find a drunken style class.

I don't think Jackie Chan was the first to make a movie about a Drunken Style. There were other Drunken Style movies way before Jackie Chan started making movies.

I can't be certain whether it's a real style or a movie made, but I believe there must have been some Kung Fu origin.

It is definatley a real style!

It is a fighting system with many tricks such as pretending to be drunk and then striking from a position which doesn't appear to be threatening.

I'm no Drunken Master, but I'm pretty sure it's a real style.

Many martial arts movies featuring "Drunken Boxing". Looks corny but very entertaining.

I was always fond of "drunken" stances, it uses a weird and bizarre logic, that could work, but I would be inclined in actually trying it.

I had a friend from mexico who trained a bit in Drunken Style/Fist/Kung Fu or what you want to call it. He found that only 3 or 4 moves were effective for him and the risk over benefit of this style was not worth it. Although I must say it looks impressive and is funny to watch.
