Most all fights I have been in come in a Bar with some idiot that decides he can whip everyone now that he's had a few beers in him.
What style would best end a fight like this fast when you can just use a couple moves and its over?
thanks
Well just a well aimed punch at the solar plexis would do it.
But i guess something with a lot of power (Hung gar) or speed (Tai Chi when done fast= dangerous). Wing chun wouldn't be bad either.
I don't think any style would purposefully drag something out. Basically when it comes to you as a martial artist your greatest advantage is the ability to neutralize an attacker before they know what happened. Be it kick to the face, an arm bar, a punch to the solar plexus or a face to the mirror, it has to happen fast to be useful.
That being said, I would have to go with marksmanship. That style can drop someone real quick.
i agree with chapel, any martial art is useful as long as you dont hesitate you should be ok, but you have to watch out with some drunks because they fight all the time when their drunk so they know how to fight so thats why you shouldn't hesitate.

You have to commit fully to the technique, whatever the tech may be. It really depends on the person studying the style as opposed to the style itself. I can only really speak about the arts I study because I don't fully know the principles and full range of other arts like their own practitioners would.
That being said, TKD and HKD have way to many fight ending strikes and locks to mention here as well as preemptive moves to end it before it begins.

I am feeling a little lazy right now so I am just going to say the styles I think would be useful.
WIng Chun -extremely useful
TKD- very useful
muay thai- very useful
those are just some I named, becaus eI am tired, and I am about to go to sleep
but it depends on the fighter not the art.
anyone can take someone down, even if they are self trained, they just have to practice it so it becomes 2nd nature like someone else stated in the past posts
Also the reason I said wing chun would be extremely useful is because, not only does it attack vitals, but also because if you are in a barr it will be a little crowded, so you can use WC in-fighting techniques to take someone down easily.
If it is too crowded, then how are you gonna use SOME of the TKD kicks, or Muay Thais kicks (even though their knees and elbows are considered in-fighting tools)

I don't believe in "best style", i think its a matter of just a couple of good solid basic techniques trained over and over again aimed to the certain weak points of the body which hopefully are going to put out anyone quickly.
Now if you need a Style, i think the best one to put out an oponent fast is: GUN-FU, just two moves, pull it out and pull the trigger, BANG its over.lol

Gun-Fu?
well actually that only works at long distances, because if the opponent is right up close to you, and (quote chris tucker)
"knows some tricky ****" then there is a good chance he will dis amr you and maybe even disarm you (literally)

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate all the input.
Gun-Fu seems to be a very popular style amoung the inner city kids and gangs.
When I was stationed in Japan back in the early 80's a Martial art instructor that was in his 70's, told me the reson that kids pick up the gun instead of going one on one is there afaid to get there ass kicked!
Thanks again
yeah i am seriously thinking of getting a hold of some airsoft guns and start developing gun kata.
as far as the earlier conversation goes, i do not think you can say one style over another because it depends on what the people fighting are doing. if they are standing then yes a punch will be perfect, but if they are on the ground then a punch is not the best. the best thing to learn would probably be skills that bouncers picked up, refs for MMA. afterall you just said you want to end the fight, that doesn't mean anyone needs to get hurt.

Actually that has been cover already. The Movie EQUILIBRIUM show you some good Gun Kata to train your Gun Fight skills from long and close range. They showed some great Gun Chisao techniques. lol
