I suppose he'd try to fight you...You might have to put him unconcious.
When you say things like that, do you stop to consider that whether or not you can "put him unconscious" is an open question to say the least? This is true for anyone, let alone an untrained little kid with no experience fighting. The way you drop these casual comments makes it sound as if (for some unfathomable reason) you take that part of it for granted. That should be among your first considerations concerning such things, especially for where you are at now.
"If you don't want to injure someone else, your martial arts are useless. You have to want to injure them more than they want to injure you"
YEt still as Martial Artists, we have an obligation to restrain ourselves unless we need to survive.
So i completely agree with that statement if you are fighting for your safety, friends/family safety/etc, yet if its just some punk that you can easily defeat, you are obligated to hold yourself back in a way.
does anyone get what i am saying?
Yes....nice response.......

I see what you mean. Personally, I would help someone if the situation was quite obvious and simple (ex. someone mugging someone else), but if it seemed complicated I wouldn't get into it because I probably would not know all the details.

I'll leave your lack of faith for another time, but considering it you might want to reconsider making declarations about that of well, everyone else...
I will let your incessant belligerence pass Unky Tare, but do not question my faith. My faith is strong.

So what to you prefer the front kick
And the side kick.
In other words, for each kick, where do you like on the target

ok then, id prefer the front kick to the solar plexus groin and knee, and the side kick to the solar plexus also, knee and shin because of the reach of your leg to his knee or any join like that , it gives you more space and also it is more effective.

My 2 cents from someone who is not an expert...
First, I have always been instructed that what we learn is to defend ourselves which would mean to only do what is needed to get away from a bad situation and a kick to the head is probably not needed to do this.
Second, I would think that certin high kicks are not the right thing and leave you open to bad stuff unless you are an "expert" with lots of speed, percision and power. I would keep them low like the shins, top of the foot and knees. Front kicks are probably the safest and you could strike to the groin, stomach/chest area. and possibly the chin depending on the situation. Remember, do what you need then get away! You never know what they (or someone else) could pull out to even the fight!

More dangerous attacks can finish the fight quicker, but you might end up killing your opponent. Disarming an opponent and then hitting him real good in the stomach might end the confrontation better, but disarming can be difficult and risky.

Roundhouse kicks go well with stillettos.

In Yumedo I'm attempting to incorperate kick-slash combos (or vice-versa) and really fast slashes. Power is less of an issue when using a katana or tanto because the blades' excellent design. Problem is, my bokken is lighter than my katana, and that can cause problems with training. I think the trick is building strength, because that will make it easier to swing (for lack of a better word) the blade, and thus I can strike more suddenly and with greater speed and ferocity.

*sigh* Kid, if you are really serious about learning the sword someday, do yourself a favor and stop this childish fooling around and train patiently in other things until you find a qualified instructor. Right now you ARE that guy on youtube with the lightsaber, really. Its not something you are going to teach yourself in any serious way. If you just want to play make-beleive that's fine, but don't pretend its anything other than that. If you really intend to learn in the future don't develop bad (and ridiculous) habits now and possibly hurt yourself for no reason.
the attitude of some people in here stink. i thought people who trained in any MA were respectable folk, but appears some are just plain ignorant, arrogant and squabble like children.
thanks for those who have kept the post on track, but i suggest that those big headed wannabes who kiss their own arse take a good look at what they say and do, as it only takes a few 'know it alls' to ruin a good forum like this, nevermind put people off the whole scene in the first place. its a good job i thought about learning something before i found this forum as if it was the other way round, id probably have just gone to the gym instead.
but as i say, thanks to those realistic people out there who dont have their head in the sand
