I should have made this clear earlier. If you want be successful at MMA then you need wrestling. If you want to suck at it then you don't need to do any wrestling, thats cool too. But, don't come crying to me because someone mounted you and beat you silly because your reverse punch didn't stop their take down like in Blood Sport. Seriously why is this so hard for you to accept? Let me see if I can break it down for you. I'm real good at getting in close and taking you down, your Judo, if it exists, will help but, not as much since there is no SPRAWL or defense from 2 on 1 or, a HC single. Being the most well rounded fighter is the goal of the way I train. If you think you can achieve this another way cool but, seriously going to another TMA forum looking for support, kinda weak dude. All I'm saying is game recognize game, and MM47 you're looking unfamiliar.

I disagree. And I have spoken to many MMAst about this.

You can disagree all you want, there are those who still don't believe in global warming, it's cool. I'm giving you what I have found to be true through actual MMA competition not third party assumption. My avatar is a pic of my undefeated heavy weight side slamming the hell out of someone.
I'm not sure as to why you are arguing this? Do you plan on stepping into a cage/ring? Are you training someone for this purpose? If so good luck and I hope you don't come up against a wrestler.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with your point, but is there not a sufficient substitute for wrestling?

Big deal on global warming. Big deal about slamming someone. Big deal about competition. Though I think you dont use as much wrestling. People are going to disagree and I do.

Because I spoken to MMA people who state it isnt a neccesity. Because, only people who are into wrestling state this.

Per above. Yes there is, but "wrestlers" want to throw their art into it. Though I think wrestling is ok, but other things can be thrown into the mix.
Which will win straight up? Can a wrestler beat a BJJ? Or can a BJJ beat a wrestler

If you take a pure guy from each of these arts, and by pure I mean they have ONLY trained in their specific art, and put them against each other MMA usually the BJJ guy will have a slight advantage because of the submissions. The wrestler simply hasn't seen the submissions before so he doesn't know how to defend.
But a BJJ guy in a pure wrestling contest gets tooled on BAD.

Why? I thought that a BJJ guy would have the slight advantage? Rule changes?
Anyone wanna explain to me the major differences between the two styles? I don't know much about wrestling or BJJ.

Now we are getting somewhere.
Rules.
Wrestling guy seems to have more limitation beset by rules.
MMA isnt a "wrestling contest"

if you are in an MMA match and you can't stop your opponent from taking you down then you lose simply because he was able to control the pace and range of the fight.
On the other hand, if you continually stuff a wrestlers takedowns and keep him standing then you will win for the same reason.
So it actually CAN be a wrestling contest just as much as it can be ONLY a kickboxing match. Depends on the fighters.

Wrestling is a very specific thing it has very specific techniques. In high levels of competition is would be required. How are you going to stop the take down???? How are you going to obtain superior position on the ground? BJJ gives you a chance to submit a guy but, if you suck at submissions you should be able to improve your position this is what wrestling does for you. I don't say this because I'm a wrestler or because another wrestler told me this is whats what. This is what I've seen first hand try to understand that. I did it, not someone else and then they came and told me about it. Me just little ole me.
Joe where the hell have you been?
MM47 let me know the names of their camps and I'll galdly set up a fight for them out here or in KY. There is a huge event being thrown out here in Oct. that we'll be televised on comcast sports channel. If that is not soon enough TFC 12 is on June 14th and will be on HDNET. So let me know I'll make sure to set them up against one of my guys or another school that has a strong wrestling base, then we can all watch the results together
