So, I didn't read the answer to the question where any/all Gracies studied wrestling.
You perfect example didnt answer the question.
It was the perfect example of where I said that a pure wrestling guy vs a pure BJJ guy the BJJ guy has the slight edge because of submission knowledge.
Let me give you a run down of the Gracie family members who have fought in modern MMA:
Cesar Gracie
Charles Gracie
Crosley Gracie
Daniel Gracie
Gregor Gracie
Igor Gracie
Ralek Gracie
Ralph Gracie
Renzo Gracie
Rickson Gracie
Robin Gracie
Rodrigo Gracie
Roger Gracie
Rolles Gracie
Royce Gracie
Royler Gracie
Ryan Gracie
Carlson Gracie Jr
When you add all of these fighters wins up, I think you will find that probably 90% of their wins happened on the ground.
How do you think they got them there???!?!?!?

That post before mine, was that for post counting? How about the one after?
Hey, my post count has the same palaverment tone as anyone elses'
I wonder, how many other Gracies DID NOT study wrestling.
*sigh*
Again, just so everyone else knows..
Wrestling takedowns are taught at part of any Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. We use the same names and techniques familiar with any high school or collegiate wrestling program. Same with Judo throws. They are part of the "takedown" curriculum.
In BJJ competition, any takedown is considered legal so ALL takedowns are taught whether they are normally associated with Freestyle, Greco, Judo...whatever. Doesn't matter.
So yes, every one of those fighters listed above has studied wrestling in some form or another.

I've been thinking about this. I think, that BJJ may gain a certain advantage in MMA because of the submit rule. It is much more difficult to knock someone out than tap them. Originally I would have said that either a KO or a tap takes someone out of a fight, but as I read more and more I see more people who continue a fight with broken bones (the end result of some submissions).

While it is hard to get the KO, it's not as hard to ground and pound your way to a decision by simply avoiding submissions.
These days a submission win at the high levels of MMA is getting rarer and rarer. Which kinda sucks for guys like me that love the beauty of jiujitsu but it was the inevitable conclusion for the sport.
