I think all martial artist are masochist to some degree.
The only way to learn martial arts properly is to both apply it and have it applied to you. Can't short cut out of that truth.
Sifu will show me things here and there for helping him, like pressure points and chin na, that he doesn't teach in the beginning class. So I do get a bit out of it, other than the joy of teaching. Though pain is part of the price you pay for that. lol

Speak for yourself! Masochistic I am not! But then I am sure it all depends on why we study MA in the first place. Sure we take hits and deal with the pain, but I hate pain. And I have a sluggish threshold for it, so although I study TKD it is not for pain of any kind. In fact, the stronger I get the better I am able to handle the pain and if I'm lucky, avoid it. Hee hee, you do have to go thru the pain to get where you're going, but I'm in it for the ride!
Haha, not quite, but that sounds like an idea... jk
I actually get hurt a lot doing stupid things, which really isn't good, its the reason I had to stop doing Judo. I got hurt doing something, well... not smart (let's just leave it at that) and I couldn't train for a year.
Note: Barbed wire fences are sharp and very high...

You threw yourself into a barbed wire fence? Why would you do that??

I mix up teaching and taking class five days per week. Usually, I'm teaching the juniors and taking the adult/teen class on Mondays and Thursdays, teaching the advanced class on Tuesday, and taking the adult only MA classes on Wednesday and Friday. Fun, fun.
