Looking for info on amateur fighter

Greetings, I wasn't sure where to post this.

Years ago in the early 1990s there was a full contact fighter by the name of Manny Crabtree, He took the world amateur championship and defended it 11 times, then left.

From what I hear the conference he was affiliated with dissolved in 1997. However I hear he has re-surfaced and is competing in Kendo these days. I would like to see this guy in action again if this is true.

Does any have ANY info on this guy? I can't find anything on the web except an old email address on another martial arts forum.

Manny Crabtree

Yes, The rumors are true!

I heard the same thing, did some digging, I found that he has indeed taken up Kendo. Also I heard about a recent competition in Chicago. He is still as fast as he used to be amazingly. He supposedly beat one of his opponents in less than 1.5 minutes.

From what I understand his next tournament will be in Virginia somewhere. I'm looking into it.

I do remember him from his full contact days, I'd like to see him in action too.

Unfortunately, there isn't much on the web about this guy.

This is all I have on him, It was out of a local newspaper on Long Island, But It's from July 1992.

Sorry for the poor quality, but they only allow small sizes on here.

You know... this sounds too much like a self promotion ....

Two new members that happen to join all too recently, share the same IP address, mentions a name nobody has heard of but somehow only you 2 have. Then, you happen to have a newspaper clippings that only self interested person would've kept after all these years.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling kendoka and kendomasta are/is Manny Crabtree or someone close to him.

You could try google or the yellow pages or the internet as Mal suggested. It's more then only porn nowadays, I mean still like 95% but that other 5% there's lots of stuff there.

This Manny dude

I knew a guy back in the day up in Rhode Island named Manny Crabtree. I remember the constant beatings he would take in the Kendo world. If he was an 11 time Champ then I'm Santa Clause. He once finished third at an event that had 2 fighters. Good luck finding him. Try looking on youtube, facebook, twitter or myspace. I think everyone in the world has that stuff. Good luck

Yeah last I heard manny got pwned by a few no0bs. They say if you go in a bathroom and turn off the light and say manny crabtree three times fast you can still hear him crying......and typing...whilst he creates multiple accounts on an internet forum to shamelessly self promote himself and resurrect the good ol' days.

TEAM USA BIOs:

Robert Bower- (Team captain) Born in Houston Texas, I started taking Wing Chun kung fu at the age of 6.
Twenty years later, I moved to North Dakota and wanted to find another martial art to study. I FOUND IT! Kendo (meaning way of the sword) I have been studying it for 10 years now and this is the first time to the world championships! On a more personal note. I have a beautiful wife named Kristin and 2 boys named Eric and Greg, who are both in their 2nd year of Kendo themselves.

Glen Croiden- About me... OK you all asked for it! I am 28 years of age. I live in Virginia with my Beagle, Patsy. After taking Shotokan Karate for several years, I took up Kendo because I wanted to learn to use the samurai sword properly. This is my second year competing but the first year on team USA. I am TOTALLY PSYCHED! that I will be facing the best in the world in 3 weeks! Go TEAM!

Emmanuel Crabtree- Wow ok the other 2 beat me to it. Well Here I go. Grew up in a sleepy little harbor town (Northport, Long Island) Came from a family of humble origins. Had a bit of a rough time in School with bullies and such, so started taking Isshin ryu Karate. Competed in that for several years, won a world amateur championship and held it for a few years. Then like the other guys here I wanted to learn the sword. Moved around a lot and took Kendo where ever I found a school. Currently, I live in Delaware and I have 8 years of Kendo Experience now and this is the first year I am competing in it and also the first time the the world championships. Glad to be among these great guys. Good luck to us all!

THIS YEAR'S CURRENT STANDINGS :

Robert Bower - Ranked 57 (42 - 22 - 3)

Glen Croiden - Ranked 12 (51 - 14 - 2)

Manny Crabtree - Ranked 2 (64 - 1 - 2)
