Talking Purple Belt

given that my rank on this site right now is a purple belt, it got me thinking.... do any of you use purple belts at your schools? i would imagine it would hard to feel tough wearing a purple belt. and what do you say when someone that doesn't know your MA ranking askes what belt you are? i think they would want to kick your butt as soon as they hear purple! not to mention all the gay teletubby jokes you would have to listen to. now i know that at least one purple belt will make a post saying they would just knock out anyone that made fun of their belt, but let's face it, anyone below black belt is all talk. and i am not saying that black belts can beat anyone up, but by that level then tend to be a tad more realistic and realize how much harder a real fight is.

We had them in Hwa Rang Do.

In fact, I used the Hwa Rang Do's belt system on this forum for all the colored belts.

My school used to have them, but changed to Brown belt a few years ago. Not sure why, but I think it was a part of the total affiliation change they did.

My wife said she just saw some kid on tv who was a "camel" belt in some sort of kung-fu. I asked if they meant camel as in the animal (ie a frog belt, a bird belt, etc) or as in the color camel (tan i guess). She said color. I could just imagine a school moving away from the primary and secondary type colors to colors like marigold, squash, and magenta

Are you sure it wasn't a 'Camo' belt? I've seen several places that advertise a camoflauge colored belt.

what would the point of a camo belt be??? make your mid-section blen in with the background so that people run in fear from the person who's mid-section is missing???
