These are good places if you have questions on hapkido.
Hapkido is highly organizational though and has many branches that focus on different aspects of the art. Some spar more, some do more with weapons, some go deeper into anatomy such as how each joint moves and breaks and the location of major arteries.
My school is a Mu Sool Kwan School which means school of millitary techniques, so are hapkido is very aggressive and pretty to the point. Hapkido has alot of weapons but we for the most part focus on knives & clubs for defense and knives, clubs(short and medium sticks), and canes for offense. Because these weapons are common and easy to find improve versions. (The cane is a as far as I know unique hapkido weapon, that you can take just about anywhere.)
Though my school is a little different because in addition to the locks, breaks, throws, and precision striking of hapkido we throw in useful judo takedowns/throws, TKDs powerful striking, and some filipino stick&knife techniques.
So it sounds to me that Hapkido is a very comprehensive Martial Art, but what I do not understand after reading this forum is what exactly makes it unique from any other Martial Art... I recently trained with a man who used to do Hapkido and was very impressed with his level of skill and knowledge relative to how long he had trained, so my interest is piqued.
Well, Hapkido originally was developed to fend off other martial arts. Also, Hapkido traditionally focuses on ki developing techniques, healing techniques and realistic, combat effective techniques. We also try to be well rounded in the range of techniques we do.
Now other arts can make similar claims, but many are still lacking in areas.

Home Country:
i didnt know till later on that my new tkd GM is also a hapkido GM under the president of the Korea Hapkido association.
some of the guys were making fun of him of being a suspect at not being able to fight on the ground, so he told some of them to attack him
while helping us out with some choreography. he took 2 dudes down simultaneously with that trademark hapkido "double person wrist throw" i dont know the exact term, an the one guy who decided to grapple him on the ground went home that day limping in pain.
my thought was im not messing with him in any areas lol.
