Good question.. I myself, do not have a heart condition, so I can only speak of my experiences with those I've come across! I've taught both young students and elderly students who've had heart conditions (all were required to bring in a doctors approval) they were told that light to moderate cardio and daily exercise were a must to ensure their health! I'm sure different conditions may result in a difference of opinion, however, my nephew has an enlarged heart and was told that regular high impact exercises (such as MA) should be used along with daily moderate exercise to help with his condition - he just needs to know the signs of fatigue and take more shorter breaks, rather than few longer breaks!

Indeed, I do agree that such conditons of heart should be examined. Afterall, its is like a muscle that should be exercised.

But the benefits of yoga go beyond stretching.............

It seems that yoga has a lot of benefits that would suplement martial arts training. Of course, the increased flexibility would seem to be the top benefit, but I think the meditative qualities of yoga are also very beneficial.

See post 21.....also it can level blood pressure, ease stress, allow better circulation....etc....

However, people overlook the grand meditation aspect, removed, in these health fitness clubs

If you get into REAL Yoga, you will find it is very spirtual, and much more in depth than just stretching. Personally I don't like Yoga. I stretch, I do martial arts, that works for me.
