Home Country: | Loosing weight and keeping it off.. Ok i am 5ft 11" tall and 14 stone (196 pounds) so as you can tell i'm almost obeise. I want to change this, i've tried a few diets and realised how bad they are..the only diet (which is not a diet) was imitating a natural slim persons eating patterns made by paul mckenna.
Basically you eat what you want
Stop eating when you are full
Eat consciencly
I saw results when i did this, but for some reason i stopped.
I want to change my life drastically but i find it hard to stick to things if i dont instantly see results.
As an obeise teenager my life is hell, i am decent at sports but i cant last long, i have a farting problem when i exercise so this stops me from exercising publicly (MA for example). Also the depression is slowly kicking in i have low self confidence levels and hate people looking at me, i dont want sympathy but i was wondering if you guys could help me eat the right foods and do the right exercises etc... My life at the moment
Each time i am given food i eat all of it, i always accept deserts and sweets. My parents buy chocolate and sweets so i eat them most of the time. At school for lunch i usually have a grilled cheese sandwich and a biscuit. I rarely get much exercise as i cant leave my house due to living in a rough area. My goals
I want to start eating consciencly and stop eating food when i am full, stop eating food infront of the TV etc..and enjoy my food instead of just devouring it without taking in tastes or anything. I want to stop buying greasy food at school, buy a sandwich or maybe bring my own lunch. I want to be able to resist the temptations of sugary foods. I also want to pluck up the courage and cash to start roller hockey (great exercise). I want to be able to run for a decent length of time, i want fitness to be prioritised in my life. But most of all i want to be able to keep it up.
Most slim people find it easy as there eating patterns are a habit and exercise is easy for them. I find exercise by itself hard and boring but i really like sports. Also my parents wont let me change my diet drastically but i have convinced them to cook food themselves a bit more. I want to be able to stop eating when i am full.
Has anyone got any advice, tips or anything that will help me? I appreciate any constructive posts made, thanks in advance. I want a better lifestyle and increased self confidence levels. |

Home Country: | I'm 5'8'' and 190lbs but didn't think of myself as obese.... I know I could and should lose 10lbs, and working on it.
There is no short cut to diet and exercise. It's just matter of variation. Good luck.
I'm sure others will jump in with more specific recommendations. |

Home Country: | I'm sorry I can't offer much advice on this other than be constantly vigilent of your goals. This will give you incentive to stop eating when you are full and excercise as you want. I will say that now is the time to address setting a healthier lifestyle. While it isn't easy, it only gets harder to change set patterns when you are older and your body has reaped the negative rewards of bad habits. |

Have you had your body fat percentage checked?
You might weigh more due to higher muscle concentration.
What I am trying to do is eat much smaller portions of food more often. From what I understand it makes you feel full throughout the day. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Try to cut down on the sugar intake. Try to get more exercise. Walk more when you can.
Just take things one day at a time and don't expect miracles overnight. NO diet or exercise program with do that.

Home Country: | Ghuruka,
You shouldn't really use your weight as a measuring stick for your body composition. As zipper said, it's your body fat percentage which matters. This number, which is hard to figure out realistically, is the ratio of muscle to fat. at your age and height, you would be doing well to be in the low teens or below. The better question is, are you happy with the way you look? If the answer is "No", then my suggestions would be:
1. EAT BREAKFAST. This is critical.
3. Eat your three meals a day, but make them smaller and include 3 "snacks" in between the meals. This will put your eating pattern at every 3 to 4 hours.
4. Keep your "snack" calorie count to about 200-300 calories.
5. Eat less simple carbohydrates. Easiest thing to do is try to eliminate sugary foods and drinks all together.
6. Exercise more.
7. Include weight training with your exercise routine.
This is an easy life style change which won't significantly impact your behavioral patterns and will get you good results.

Home Country: | Everything that Joemo said, plus drink a lot of water. What all that will do is speed your metabolism so you are burning more calories while your just sitting. Also try to put on some muscle, because muscle burns more calories than fat does. Oh, and to help with the muscle, get some protein. |

Home Country: | Do your own research, snoop around on the web, find some sites that can teach you about nutrition, Bodybuilding.com - The Future Of Bodybuilding! Huge Bodybuilding Site. has a lot about nutrition, exercises, supplements. Go to a gym and try find people who can help you. Start of easy, or find a sport you enjoy, and start doing it more often... Like say.... Martial arts. =P
It depends where you exercise, I mean, doing it at home usually gets distracting. You're doing a set of weights and then you see your MSN buzzing like mad. But, if you go to a place like a gym, people won't really be staring at you, unless they're jerk offs. And oh well you blow gas, just do it discretely. =P A jog in the park, nobody will notice. =P
And try find something you wanna buy... Sommit expensive. Like a... PS3 or a holiday to... Sydney? And then stop using money for junk food and make your own lunch, with food sufficient for you, not that it will make you full, but enough so you won't get tired, and go for healthy stuff like Go Ahead bars(They're freakin' amazing).
Yeah... I'm done with my rant. =P
Well if you need any more like info, just message me or sommat. Good luck.

Home Country: | I weighed about a week ago at 6 feet and I weighed 247 Lbs. On 4-29-08 I have started a new diet. It is the Alternate Day Diet by Johnson M.D. Most of the science behind it I had already been familar with. You eat 20% of your daily cal. requirements every other day and figure out on your own what to eat the other days. Unlike the warrior diet where you fast for 20 hours out of 24. You are fasting 32hours and eating 16. This means not counting the 500 or so calories every other day. This amount seems to be low enough not to stop the good mo jo. The warrior diet is interesting because in studies subjects lost fat and gained muscle. Which makes it seem ideal initially. The problem seems to be that the fasting phase was not long enough to produce the anti inflamatory results seen in the Alternate Day Diet. This book by Johnson M.D. was released this month. |

Home Country: | Be careful with any diet that requires fasting. Fasting is a quick way to throw off you electrolites. That can cause some permanent harm to your body, such as heart damage. If you are going to fast, make sure you drink plenty of liquids. This will help keep your elcrolytes in balance. |

Home Country: | One can of v8 has 25% of daily sodium and only 70 cal. plus many important electrolytes. The diet doesnt restrict any fluid intake , just lowers calories to 20%. As a side note I am looking forward to my diet day, which will begin when I wake up around 0900. |

Lower weight and lots of reps, if you can not get to a gym push ups work well, just keep good form. Shadow boxing is good cardio that does not need a lot of space to do. I keep an every other day routine to give my body a chance to recover from previuse day's routine. Remember to get good night sleep, important to losing weight. |

Home Country: | If you really want to lose weight, follow this nutrition plan: Take Control of Your Health With My Nutrition Plan
You dont need to go on a diet, if you truly want to lose weight and be healthy, you need to change the way you eat forever. There are many ways to eat healthy. The problem with diets is that everyone processes food differently. Some people can eat carbs and not gain weight, while others cannot. You blood sugar is a good indication of this. If you have over say 10-12% bodyfat and are a guy, you are eating incorrectly. Technically, your bodyfat should be below that regardless of how much you exercise. But remember human bodies are meant to eat meat/veggies/fruits and exercise (hunt) for food.
I really suggest you read the above nutrition plan.
Anyway, a very very simple diet strategy - STOP EATING PROCESSED FOODS. That is the best diet in a nutshell. You will lose weight and your bodyfat will drop. |
