:sirdarksol: Are u saying that, alot of students are not good.
Wouldn't having alot of students, state that the school does a good job teaching. And do good things to have a large amount of students intrested in them.

A skill that I would take would be muay thai.
I'd prefere a stand up game.Although a ground game is needed.
But as a first skill, I would take muay thai. then learn take down defense, and ground game.
For the time being, there is still things(issues) that need to get takin care of. taking this step to ask all u martial arts practioners my QUESTION, is just a small step, to the start of the beginning to my ambitions. For now, still a wannabe.
still weight training, and beginning cardio training.

A large student to teacher ratio isn't good as there is a limit to the 1-1 instruction.
Personally, I am following just about the same path you are in fighting, Muay Thai for strikes and a good grappling art to follow up with. I have always felt that every art has something that you can learn from so that your own martial spirit can thrive.

Sirdarling is right about the ratio.
However, what I was getting at was that if there weren't a lot of students, but six or seven were getting their belts in a month, it's possible that they're pushing the students through belts as quickly as possible.
In this case, the larger number of students would be much preferable.

Muy Thai and BJJ make a good combo. Whatever styles you decide upon just remember to cross train.

And a big school is not a bad thing. But its the ratio of student to teacher that counts. Wether its a small school or a large one.

Don't let that be the end all decision maker either. A good school with a bad student/teacher ratio should know how to incorporate every student anyways. Our school is continuously growing and that ratio is getting bigger and bigger. the difference is that our school knows how to make sure everyone gets attention. Thats just something you have to observe on your own when you visit.
