Welcome. It's nice to have some representation from "other" martial arts in the forum. It's also equally nice to have more and more people who run their own schools.
Well......where do I start?.... First off The Term "Martial Arts" is a Western Term from the 1700's England.
If you watch Rob Roy, Braveheart, Kingdom of Heaven and Highlander you will have an idea of what Western Martial Arts are and what we teach. Unfortunately for Westerners we do not have any particular form that has been handed down through the ages like a lot of Eastern Styles. Mainly because Western Martial Arts were only for attacking your neighbor and taking his stuff. As better ways of killing were developed, the old ways were put aside. Guns made armour obsolete and guns that could shoot more than one round without reloading finally did away with swords all together.
Some arts survived like grappling, dagger and such.
We teach Western Martial arts as a "Martial Art". This makes us different than some Western Schools who only go for technique and theory. So we go faster and harder in all of our training. Control is the key. When you watch us we do not stab each other because we pull the blow, it is all about control. Do we get hurt? Yes....but no more than any Eastern "combat" martial art such as Hapkido.
Styles: mixed martial art style, jeet kune do concepts, currently capoeira and some kick boxing

Interesting. I've read up on western style martial arts and stuff, but my first time actually hearing from some one who studies them. That's cool bro I look forward to hearing a whole lot more from you.
