I think I understand what you're asking. Tang Soo Do is the name of the art. "Tang soo!" is a standard greeting that TSD practitioners use with each other. (Actually, it's used when two TSDers part company as well.)
For example, if I walked into my school and saw you there, I'd clench both hands into fists, hold them up in front of me about chest high, bow slightly and say "Tang Soo, sir!" as a form of greeting.

I began martial arts training (Tang Soo Do karate) a little over a year ago at the age of 43. My 8 y/o son, 6 y/o daughter and I all began at the same time. Turns out I liked it a lot more that they did - they got tired of it and stopped coming after 10 months, but I have kept working out. I’ve just made 5th gup green belt for those of you familiar with the Tang Soo Do belt system. I love this sport and wish I had started when I was a kid. I plan to keep training as long as I’m physically able, and am actively working to get my kids interested again.

Hi and welcome. Never too old for martial arts and its good your getting your kids involved. Personally I'm in my thirties but most people think I'm only about 21 to 25. Then again I am barely 5' tall

Isn't it funny that size can fool people of your age? I am 5 foot 7 an 69 kg, 38 years old and yet some people mistaken me to be below 30. My brother on the other hand, who is 8 years younger, weighs 110 kg, stands at 5 foot 8, look much older for his size. When we walk together, people will never believe that he is 8 years younger than me.

That's kind of like asking "what is kung fu", very hard to quantify. There is a thread by PenNe entitled "Silat" in the Other Martial Arts forum area. I would give you a direct link but I have no idea how. Post your questions there and you'll get many answers.
