Japanese Martial ArtsDiscuss Japanese style Martial Arts here - Aikido, Iaido, Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Kenpo, Kendo, Kyudo, Kyudo, Ninjitsu, Sumo
Martial Man... I never thought I would see the day where we both see 100% eye to eye.
Japanese Jiujitsu is about ending a fight by dropping someone on the ground hard. Aikido is about ending a fight by causing joint pain and dislocations. Different, but both effective.
Definitely, Aikido is very decent for self defense as it was formed as a way to end the cycle of violence (violence begets more violence). I know of maybe 2 or 3 Aikido techniques that I know pretty much solely for the purpose of demonstrative the difference between Aikido and Hapkido. When I was showing a friend of mine his exact question was "Why does that hurt?" He saw how we were moving and wouldn't expect that motion to cause pain simply from watching it.
Hello All - I have to ask a question - What the Heck is (Japanese Jiujitsu)? I have studied the martial arts for over 45 years, and ive not heard of Japanese Jiujitsu
Chapel....Aikido, also has quiet a few Methods that will take an Attacker down Hard Enouph to cause a KO! I have used some of these methods as a Police Officer, and as a Body guard

Jiu Jitsu was originally a Japanese style of martial arts. Mitsuo Maeda went to Brazil and taught Gracie brothers, who in turned developed it into their own Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Let's keep in conversational... I know its against your nature, but I thank you for trying so hard recently.
So anyone disagree that the two arts are pretty much on the same ground especially considering the shared heritage?
they are almost the same

Grant the BS from a lot of their Ki demos and they dont actually compete, cannot rule out that there is some good defensive tactics there.
i believe tht it is effective but it had its time so u can't make a plan to catch a striker attack from the beginning of match but u could use it when u became in closer range

No. That was the old samurai way that is a pre-mature version of Judo that was used to throw the opponent on his head and use the weight of his armor to crush him. Japanese Jiu Jitsu is similar to Brazillian.
