Thank you.No Jodo is not similar to judo.Jodo is the way of the short staff, about 1220 mm long,so not as long as say,a bo.Usually trained with an opponent who has a bokken but has other applications in coru.Quite handy as self defence if you happen to have a broom handle around!
I do Seitei Iaido and Seitei Jodo which I have been doing since early '07. Both of which I thoroughly enjoy
I find the same thing, almost no-one knows Jodo (how many times have I heard the response 'you mean Judo?') and only a very small portion have heard of Iaido.

I think you meant Jojutsu. There may be people using the word "jodo" for that, but more people will know what you mean, when you say jojutsu.
The word is not Jotutsu it is in fact 'Jodo' because it is the learn 'The Way of the Jo'. Brought about from the days of moyomoto musashi when he encountered this weapon in combat and could not win (although he did not lose either)
My club have taken the Jo art to a differant level with our Kumi-Jo which is a combat situation but incorporating a continuous flow with no stopping. Alomst like Jo sparring but the aim is to keep moving and flowing like water... Its very interesting!
