Yeah I've learned a lot. Instructors do hold a great deal of insight on the realm of martial arts. I never formally took any classes, but I make friends and share ideas with many different instructors and teachers in my area. JKD is such a crazy process, I've grown so much since I first started training. I didn't used to want to study any other styles, because I didn't want them to "taint" or change me and my expression of the arts. Now I study them just to learn the weaknesses and strengths of that style and hopefully learn some new principles.

The road of self-expression is a winding road, lol
But if you dont have the insight for the dangers of the road, then youre just a juvenile about to get hit.

Very true martialman, I can bow to that , I have plenty to learn, and I also know that regardless of experience, elders always seem to have more, so I definitely appreciate and accept any words of wisdom you guys may have. Thanx

Words are less valuable than a live mentor.

Stop messing around and get a instructor.

Dancing Dragon,

I live 3 to 5 minutes up 71 highway from you. Welcome to the boards.

You definitley have the drive and confidence. That's a great thing. There are things that a real instructor can teach you to make you more aware. I've been doing kung fu for quite a while and might have some knowledge to share, if you like. PM me and I'll give you my contact info. Do it only if your serious about learning something though. I don't teach people or do kung fu to pose

there is no way in haities that you can learn jkd without the assistance of an instructor. there are to many intangibles that can not be obtained through books, magazines or articles!!!!

What I have been saying for a long time. The philosophy of it is not the complete practice and/or study.
