Jeet kune do was created by bruce lee some jeet kune do is based on wing chun which are simple effectvive techniques that focus on defensive manouveres it translates into 'way of the intercepting fist'
I dont know for sure but I think jeet kune do is far more about street defense over form or cometition.
It relies heavily on speed and I beleive there is also the concept of the inner gate defending your own whilst working your way into your attackers centre line

yeah, you are right!
Jeet Kune Do is more for street defense and actual combat in real life situations.
But, it isn't a style, it's more of a philosophy!
the scool near me teaches JKD concepts which gives you and Idea of what JKD is, and how to use the philosophy!
that must be what your school is teaching.

Defending yourself, your beliefs, or your individuality is never easy as it only brings conflict....just look at the news, your school, or a Martial arts forum.....

yes this is true, but it makes you wonder...
is anything ever truly complete?
I mean, when you die, you are done, and you don't continue learning or living the way of the Martial arts!
so no martial art is ever truly complete, it keeps on evolving!
if a sensei dies then his student is now the one who has to live the way right?, so then the martial art starts from the beggining and thats the circle, the balance!

I definitely agree with you guys. Jeet Kune Do is a way of life, a philosophy that is more of an outline rather than a blueprint to the martial arts. It's a road of self-mastery and self-discovery. The main principle of course is aggressive-defense, which includes, counter-attacks, feints, simultaneous parrying and and punching, and the ultimate form of defense, interception. That's just my personal interpretation of the art.
