i dont know really. im not too fimilar with jkd, or concepts for that matter. his technique, and concepts seem fluid, and somewhat skillful. although i noticed he is off balance alot. based on the other videos i would say he does jkd.
seems like he is skilled though.

Never studied JKD, so I really can't judge whether this guy is for real or not. However, I have watched a ton of Bruce Lee flicks, and he certainly has Bruce's movements mimicked pretty well.

I think he's a good mimick.

Anyone can mimick.

All one has to do is research JKD, to find if he is qualified to teach or had actually studied.

So the big question is in mimicing can one truly defend themselves and be a great fighter?

Mimicking is different from understanding and appllying....

yes i understand but what i am trying to get at is can someone be a great fighter from mimicking?
i know they wont be able to truly "feel" their techniques and from mimicking they probably dont understand martial arts well but can one be a great fighter from mimicking.

now i mean mimicking as in doing what they see and thats it, but looking at someone do a technique on the TV or movies or even your sensei, is not mimicking as long as you see what the technique is for, how its applied, etc etc.

Well, in a sense, even under a qualified instructor, one would want to "mimick" a technique. However, that instructor would know if it was a mimick of perfection or reflection.
