One of the major problems with JKD is that so many people want to use the name yet have absolutely no understanding of the base concepts. I've seen guys who practice TKD, learn one technique from another system then all the sudden the study JKD. It doesn't work like that. There truly is a base to JKD fighting, even if the application of that base may be a bit different from qualified instructor to qualified instructor. Just mixing arts shows absolutly no knowledge of JKD and calling yourself JKD when you haven't studied it (like mixing hapkido and bjj)shows even less knowledge of what JKD is and a great deal of disrespect to those who actually study or teach it.

I know now what they consist of! They all teach Jun fan Gung Fu or at least the original fighting that Bruce Lee taught, and there are and have been things added in though, since his untimely death

His first martial art was actually Tai Chi. The martial art he learned his base concepts, like efficiency and economy of motion, was indeed Wing Chun.
