Basic fighting principles are most important, althouhg the demo did not explain how students are trained it appears the idea behind it are techniques that can be effective however in terms of reality are difficult and risky to execute
This practice would suit someone who is already capable of practising a good fundamental fighting art such as jujutsu and then advancing thier skills using quantum jujutsu. This is because they can use thier basic skills to defend themselves in the street but NEVER underestimate the adntage of surprise, if someone did that to me Id be rather shocked and this may slow down my reaction giving them an advantage
I have sent an email to level1@yellowbamboo.com. The yellow bamboo site is offering a free tutorial video for they introductory program. Any other similarly minded skeptics out there might might want to try it also (if only to back up your opinions.)
If however, you do decide to get those videos and train in yellow bamboo, don't drink the cool aid. You'll see what I mean, that damn thing is a cult.

i wasnt paying too much attention to the "quantum" earlier lol. just the demo.
i looked at the other vids an while the demo was flashy...they do train "alive"
i remember that wierd yellow bamboo cult ROFL what the hell is that guy doing in that video posted by Spinach....hahahahaha made me choke on my gatorade
.....theres other videos floating around when they challenged some BJJ guys and had thier asses handed to them trying to summon chi balls and channel the force.
grand Celestial Do. where some fruit cup claims to have been picked up by a UFO an taught martial arts by aliens. he has a cult following and many of them pay at least 3-4 thousand a month for classes

Reason: error
Notice that whenever that video switches to 'alive' all the jumping grapples go out the window.
I like the idea of an alien martial art. Just in case you thought eastern and western arts were different, why not study an art that was made by beings completely without human form. My favorite defense tactic is the one against the gun.
"Celestial Master Hemme is confronted by an armed assailant. He telepathically connects with the assailant, anticipating his move. He grabs hold of the gun. With his hands, he transforms photonic energy into Spectral Acidic Radiation, melting the inner lining of the gun. As the gun becomes inoperable, he yanks it away disarming the opponent."
Let me mercilessly ridicule this because the website lacks anything related to web design and has numerous grammatical errors.
First, why waste the time an energy with the telepathic link? I'll tell you what he is going to do: shoot you. Grabbing hold of the gun is useful, but only if you make sure that it isn't pointed at you. Also grabbing from the top will cause the gun to jam (immediately for a revolver, after 1 shot for a slide). None of this is mentioned.
Assuming that your body has some kind of appropriate organ on board, you then turn photonic energy into Spectral Acidic Radiation. Please note that a photon is the force carrying particle for light, so photonic energy would simply be light. The term Spectral generally also refers to light, or more specifically the spectrum of visible light (granted not always), but in this case no such Spectral anything is visible (except apparently through an IR filter. Now Acidic Radiation... an acid is a simple highly reactive substance that generally contains a Hydrogen atom bonded weakly to some other chemical (Chlorine for eaxample, where as radiation has multiple forms. The most dangerous form of radiation is in the form of gamma waves. These gamma waves are actually simply high energy, short wave length light waves. So by translating photonic energy into spectral acidic radiation we basically get light waves into high energy acidic light waves.
Next we melt the inside of the gun. Honestly, we should have done this first. For people with super hero like abilities, we sure don't know how to use them. Since the gun is metal the heat required to melt the inside of the gun would conduct very readily through the short distance to both of our hands. Infact, if our hands were the source of the heat then the gun metal around our hands would melt first causing severe burns to both parties. However... neither radiation nor acid (spectral or otherwise) actually causes something to melt. Radiation really doesn't have much of an effect on metal, it is simply the nature of the reaction of the two things. Acid, however, would cause something to dissolve, not melt. And this is only if we had some really good acid. In the industry setting we use acid to actually prevent metal from rusting in the air. The difference in this case is critical. The the inside of a barrel is melted and the trigger is pulled, the bullet rushing through will stop inside the gun and become fused to the gun (this happens rarely in cars that overheat with no forms of lubrication), where as a dissolved inside will only lead to less accuracy and possible more tumbling with a now acid coated bullet.
Finally we yank the gun away from our opponent. There is no technical description about how we are supposed to do this except raw force and us pulling on the gun happens to correspond with the motion of him pulling the trigger. Provided that the gun is now inoperable, him pulling the trigger will do nothing. So now we have the broken gun... why did we want it? Its broken.
and chapel you are right in real situations the flashy stuff does go out the window and that was my point, flash sells better at a demo. yes it is good to learn the principals to protect yourself in a bad situation, but in the end i just want to look really really cool. so i prefer MA that do teach the practical things but then teach fun stuff to show off with at a higher level.
Yeah, that whole thing is weird...reminds me of the time I accidentaly stumbled onto a Scientology place when I was a kid, very creepy.
Disguntled is right about the clip, you never know, the Sensei could have said right before the class: "most of the stuff I demostrate to you today will not help you in a real life situation."
I just liked the vid because it was really different to anything I've seen before....like watching a man being thrown by a monkey.
1 he would never pull that off on anyone larger than himself
2 hospital visits if on concrete are for sure
3 trying doing that with a weapon e.g knife and your just gonna get stabbed to bits

I'm glad Chapel picked up on the use of the word Quantum in the name. Its needless use of a scientific term to add credibility to the style. That bugs me too!
As someone who, as many of you know, looks into real science of fighting, the use of "flash" completely contradicts science.
Also, that "Grand Celestial Do", does anyone else think that this is absolute delusion? Check out the opening line: "In 1976, George Salusbury was abducted by an UFO. Having spent 11 years on the aliens' planet, he acquired the knowledge of a revolutionary fighting system" That could easily be disproved by tracing where this guy was at the time, or the fact that he was missing (if he even exists?)
Furthermore, naming the art "Grand Celestial Do"? I loved Chapel's critique. It saved me doing it myself! The art has more crap than actual technique...then get to the actual move and it consists of "yanking the gun". Very little "Martial", no "Art", but lots of crap.
Just my humble opinion...
