How hard would it be to perform judo techniques in real-life without anyone wearing a gi?
not too bad you alter lots to be non gi but if someone is wearing a coat it should not be too bad but I would take the risk with a sacrifice throw though but something like tsuri komi goshi with two lapels should be easy enough

Although it is possible to perform judo techniques using normal clothing, shirts, jackets even ties (which would be pretty effective) etc, you must learn to also grip your opponents arms and instead of gripping a judo collar, hold round the head or waist. Practice in the dojo should not just be gripping a gi. What if you got in a fight at the beach?

i've trained a few times without gi jackets and you adapt the throw and pick throws that work it that situation. An ippon seio nage is pretty similar, grip wrist rather than sleeve, getting a good kazushi is the hardest part so it trains you to use the opponants movements against them. If it was used in self defence any grip on a shirt or t-shirt would work and assuming they are not judokas wont have a clue whats coming.
