Home Country: | It will vary on the school you go to, my first one always started by teaching a movem then a counter and continuation move based on the original. Each step was unrestricted, resticted and overrestricted, then work on speed timing and balance. Always ended up with some Koka training (any take down would do) or practice matches. If you're not happy try talking to your instructor, it may be that if your school is split into a variety of classes that after moving up you will get more 'proper' action. Or look at other schools. |

Home Country: | Anyone care to suggest why Judo was more widely suggested in Universities?

Home Country: | beginning Judo hiI have been affiliateed with Judo programs for 40 years. It is best to start out learning the arts before you try to apply them. this prevents learning techniques incorrectly; it also keeps your body intact as you learn to fall, roll and kiai for your own protection. Keep it up...if you have any athletic ability or former similar training you'll progress quickly!!! |

I would also think that it may help slightly to be on the heavier side in judo, than it would say muay thai or taekwondo. |
