Judo throws in MMA

I`ve noticed Judo-style throws are very commonly used in MMA. Takedowns seem to be more common. Why is this? are takedowns more simple or effective? If this is so, could it be argued that judo throws are unnecessarily complex?

No way...if anything you are seeing less shots and much more clinch style takedowns. Judo has more than just hip throws, everyone assumes that an inside foot trip isn't Judo but it is.

I agree, I must shamefully admit that I had not much of a clue about Judo. I was suprised to find out the was quite a bit of grappling, and more recently, I found out they have striking as well.

And would it be because there are a lot more wrestlers in the MMA than judokas?
