Gambatte Karate is a jewel in the rough

LOL

The system I train in is definatly watered down from what it was originaly. This is due, in part, to Americans and wanting it all for less. We want to know it all, but we don't want to take the time and put in the work necissary to learn it. I train my students harder than my sensei trained me, but MOST schools in America would close after the first month or two if they tried to teach classes as they've been taught in Okinawa for hundreds of years. My students always leave worn out from their class, but refreshed at the same time.

Well, America(ns) want everything fast. Fast women/fast food/fast cars/fast heating/etc.

But in the course of a subject to study, it makes sense to put in the amount of time worth the amount of effort for the amount of skill.

I guess I'm a weird American, in that I'm abnormally patient. Oh well.

Many Americans are.

However, if you look at your lifestyle, it has been made to accommodate your needs a lot quicker.

Take the microwave and self serice gas stations, for examples....

Wow this is really opening my eyes about Okinawan Karate and I agree that americans have become lazy as we want things fast. All things come to those who wait which I believe is true. While the training in Okinawa is brutal from what I've read here I would welcome it to get my mind and body in one place.

Yeah Asians do like Karaoke... But not me, I'm a banana, yellow on the outside, white on the inside.

Not just Americans are lazy... Everybody is lazy. Maybe not people in third world nations, but the majority of people are lazy. Cars, planes, ships... The internet is a lazy source of information and communication. And we have people from everywhere on this board.
