Yeah, i'm in favor of the Karate kid, too. The Shaolin boy was tougher and faster, but i preferred the Karate kid's style.
They kicked alot, though. Sorta looked like TKD with some punching. There weren't alot of the arts' signature moves included, though the Karate kid pulled off one mean trick near the end.

For their age both are very good. I think they both have a good martial arts future. I think the deciding factor was the chinese boys reach. He knew how to use his length.

I think the deciding factor was that this event seemed to be taking place in China rather than Japan or some neutral country.
But, of course, I'm biased towards Kyokushin as well.

But then again, it'd still be pretty hard to pick the winner. Both had very good shots in, and both were forced off the ring once (One more forcefully than the other.)

Oh yea. The Chinese boy used his size to manhandle and push
his smaller opponent out. I though it was cheep.
He wouldn't have been so easily inclined with a taller
opponent.

I agree. I think he was pushing the Kyokushin fighter out because he was gassed and his legs were getting destroyed with those low shin kicks. Notice how he favored his right leg forward until the last round, and, when the Kyokushin kid started really landing those low kicks, he put his left leg forward.
God, I miss sparring like that.

I don't. The only time i did a low kick was when i was sparring a black belt. He bent his knees right at that moment to get out of the way, but it was too late.
Bang, i crippled my foot for three months. I had to limp on my right leg that whole day, i couldn't stand straight for a week, couldn't kick anything for a month and i had to spar with only my left leg for three months.
...Yeah, alright, i actually miss those days.
But yeah, i did notice. The karate kid is good, but i seriously think that he made the shaolin boy a little desperate.

I find it amusing all the excuses about the outcome of the match. The Shaolin kid won. If they have another match maybe the other kid wins, but that wasn't the outcome this time. It doesn't mean one style is better than the other so why make the excuses?

No excuses. We saw it as ths Chinese having Home advantage.
He was robbed. You saw the desperation, as he pushed his smaller
opponent out of the ring.
We Kyoskushin stylist admit our bias. Doesn't mean he wasn't
robbed

It was a close match. Using his size to push the smaller guy out of the ring is LEGAL. stating this as a reason for his loss is an excuse...and a bad one at that. The Kyoskushin fighter was pretty good and might win if the two meet again. Just leave it at that. Look for legitamate reasons the kid lost that he might correct to win next time instead of lame excuses why he lost this time.

hmmmmmmm.
I was actually glad to see the shaolin kid pushing and using his size to his advantage. I honestly think that using what you have is a masterful tactic... I mean, how else would you be a good fighter if you didnt capitalize on your opponents weaknesses??
