I just wanted to show people the different Katas used in Shotokan Karate starting with the beginning ones and working up to the more advanced ones. These clips show the Katas at speed then slow it down.

I would think there are more Katas out there but this should give someone a better idea of what Shotokan is about and its styles.

i remember watching these a while back on the tube. the strikes are very similar to TKD based on the obvious influence it gave to TKD but TKD incorporated more kicking and the patterns are re-arranged.

Very interesting. I like the collection. I do a similar system called Shu Do Kan. They both have similar roots and eventually, can be traced to the same place and person. Tekki Shodan, nidan, sandan in Shotokan is Naifanchi Shodan, nidan, sandan in Shu Do Kan. There are other differences in other kata as well, but man...It's pretty cool to see other systems renditions of the same kata.
