Had a similar problem with Christian students as well once, I simply explained that you are not bowing to an idol or in submission but as a sign of respect. If you can accept this then leave. Then I got sued, and won so...

I am surprised that the case was even heard. I am surprised that the judge didn't just rule in your favor as soon as you said 'private business.'

Well, I was being sued for religious persecution. And, it went before a magistrate they were suing for the money for the lessons back three months so it was $195. They quoted from the Bible then I quoted from the bible and had a theologist friend of mine take the stand as an expert wittness and the magistrate threw it out.

Wow, someone has to be pretty spiteful to sue for $200. Taking the day off of work would cost them almost as much.
