Assuming all that is true, surely you're not suggesting a child barely past toddler stage is capable of black-belt performance.

I got a 5 year old son and a 2 year old girl, there is no way in hell I give them a Black Belt until they were in their teens (late). So they'd be mature and knowledgeable and have a full understanding.
Rickson wouldn't promote Rockson (his son) til he turned 18. And he was awesome before then. Too bad about his accident, he would've been one of the greats also.

This is sad, not that she isn't a great kid, but there's more to earning a bb than 15 moves...sheesh! I still ponder about the 4 y/o and how his dad took a tongue lashing from you all...tee hee! lol
Not past toddler age of course, what i meant to say was how well children learn and retain knowledge when they are givin a task to preform, like a kata for example. Learning a set of moves
I kinda remember Ernie Reyes Jr was the star of a martial art series for tv back in the 80's. Electric Knight was the title if I am not mistaken.
Here in the States it was called Sidekicks. Cute show.
I think it's interesting (and not a coincidence) that many of these toddler black belts are awarded their rank by family members.
I agree that this kind of crap is bad for the martial arts community as a whole.

Ah. True. Though at that age, I think it's JUST retention without understanding.
