hard to say, you can't use the same technique in all your spars, you have to change your strategy according to every rival, trying to take advantage of your skills and your rival's weaknesess.
Any way, the double kick in the ribs followed by a turning donkey kick in the stomach seems to work ok, high kicks are only recommended if you are very flexible, skilled, fast and only for counterattack.
Best kick for scoring points? Often a kick that comes across/down/over the front shoulder towards the head, because at this point it very hard to block and also hard to see. This is usually an axe/hook kick.
Fastest kick? I would go for front kick, as the movement is so simple and requires no body positioning, just stick it out there!
Most powerful kick? In my oppinion it is the reverse side-kick, as it has more power than a standard side-kick, due to weight of the kickers body adding to the force of the impact, because of the spinning motion.
Most effective for scoring points. Thats a hard one and depends on the situation. I usually use some sort of combo or fake to allow my final kick to score.
Fastest? front leg round kick maybe
Most powerful? Spinning wheel kick or flying side kick. Momentum is a beautiful thing!
In sparring what is in your opinion the most effictive kick for scoring a point?
Most powerful kick?
Fastest kick?
With my limited knowledge thus far ... and what works best for me:
Effective = round kick (from a defensive posture)
Powerful = #3 Side Kick (slide/hop side kick w/ front foot)
Fastest = #3 Front Kick (slide/hop front kick w/ front foot)
As far as scoring points though, I like to get inside and start throwing punches. For whatever reason, everybody seems to forget about their hands. Last night's sparring I took on two different senior red belts and out pointed them both by being aggressive, putting them on the defensive, then working the body.
I don't recall them ever throwing a punch. Their kicks were very pretty, but they still have to land.

Agree with people forgetting about hands they remember fast when you punch them in the face though
Anyone that was posting yesterday might have noticed that I said I wanted to spar our Nat'l AAU champ. Not an ego thing I just want to see whether or not I'm fast and reactive. It would be a good way to gauge my progress.
Anyway as it turns out he wants to spar with me too . I always watch the advanced class on Mondays, since its the only one during the week and is right before my class. He was putting on his sparring gear and was like, " you need to hurry up and get to high yellow so we can spar." I tried to hide a huge grin, cuz I def didnt want to bring it up and look like an arrogant A$$, but he was already thinking the same thing I was but probably not for the same reasons I guess.
I still havent received my new belt so we'll either be waiting for a long time or a week or two.
So my question to the board is, his axe kick is infamous and he really loves to catch advancing opponents with back kicks. What are the common ways to neutralize those kicks? Also I personally dont kick much to the body I am more of a head guy, is this bad etiquette in a "friendly" sparring match, meaning will it just piss him off?
