Home Country: | True to both. This is certainly more in the realm of 'martial arts tricking' than self defense. I guess I am assuming a certain command of the basics before (and thus an ability in self defense) before moving on to things like this. Even still, one who trains exclusively in self defense would have an advantage over someone who trains for stunts and tricks.
My point, if I haven't confused everyone yet, is that you shouldn't get down on these guys just because it is useless in a fight. (Unless they are claiming that it is useful in a fight.) |

However, too many things people do to look "cool" and either misguide themselves or others into believing it is possible for actual defense.

Home Country: | Maybe I'm just old school or something, but to me, when you say you are a martial artist, especially a teacher, that indicates some knowledge of self-defense. What is shown in the vid, while skillfull, has no martial value. Yet thier stated goal is to teach martial arts. Thier show goes against thier stated goal. Of course I have no way of knowing what they are actually teaching. |

Yeah he is good but, Kori is no slouch either he's a very solid purple belt. We're going to of course work his sprawl sprawl sprawl!!

Be sure to check out how he likes to play, he could be a guard player ya know? I did a quick search on Youtube and found multiple videos of some of his grappling matches. I believe in studying for a fight, ya know?

He looks like some one who likes to pull guard but I've seen him try to work mostly out of smount and knee on belly.
