As far as style, I love a good hook kick, but for practicality nothing beats a side kick. I'm rather tall (6'5") so It's great for keeping my opponent from closing in on me.
Thai as in Thailand. I'm a south paw so my Thai kick hits the inside thigh rather then the outside, against orthodox fighters. I like to use Thai kicks instead of roundhouses when possible.

Again, not to be funny or "troll", can you explain to me what a "Inside Thai Kick" is?

I'll use kicks to the inside of the lead leg, outside of the lead leg, and the front thrust kick. I'm not particularly fond of kicking. I don't like standing on one leg when I'm fighting. I also feel it limits my mobility. I'm not taking shots at anyone who likes kicking. Just how I feel and why I don't use kicks. There are people who are a heck of a lot better at kicks and as a result are more comfortable with kicking. Guess I'm a stereo-typical Wing Chun guy, in that respect

Kicking is really something you have to get used to over a period of time. When a kick is done right you are not on just one leg for long, plus you learn to use your kicks as part of your mobility.
It really is a learned skill though, not innate to most people.

I studied arts that had kicking in them and became proficient at the kicks...a lot of kicks. I still rarely used them, for the reasons above. For me, it just didn't feel right.
I did forget one kick I became kinda known for. Top of foot kick to the groin when some silly person would split my lead leg...quickly followed by a lead hand to thier head...amazing how well a groin kick will draw someone's guard down Can't believe I forgot about that one. hehe
