Hmm, if your asking what I think your asking then you obviously haven't been to the chinese martial arts section. Please specify if maybe it's like a strange unmentioned kung fu or if it's something else.

no kung fu is the word for skill, thats why people tell a cook he has great kung fu. It can also be used as the chinese word for martial arts along with wushu. but Kung fu could be any style, but now it is only used to refer to styles originating in china.

It is not a true Chinese word for martial art as it became a generic one to appease dumb Occidentals.

Now Asians want to get on the mis-terminology to show something great and indentifiable.

I think it had started during the Boxer rebellion era when a french Ambassador had asked the boxers what it was they were doing.

that was when wushu became the normal word. Kung fu was being slightly used then but the teens right around the cultural revolution made it big.

Interesting. I get much negativity from so many people on this.

I had found two people whom 'opened my eyes".

One guy:

Another guy was a University Eastern Philosophy Professor (He taught a few classes on Buddhism). He had traveled the globe. He gave me many references/contacts

Hmm, how could Kung fu not be the correct word? I always see things about shaolin kung fu and schools teaching kung fu.

Your making me feel dumb.

Dont feel that way.

Nowadays, it is correct as it can be used like slang.

Long ago, the plural of shrimp was shrimp.

Dictionaries are starting to use the entry-shrimps.

Like fish, fishes.
