I agree there is more to be learned to participate in mma. Perhaps this is why ancient pankration came in two forms , one standing and the other standing and ground fighting. One for purists and the other for the intelectually challenged.
LOL! Please keep 'em coming, this is better than going to a Comedy Club.

Joemoplata the crazy part is I believe WC was serious. If my skills were weak I might be too insecure to cross polinate my mma with a little sumo. There is somthing about throwing each other from the ring. Conversely if Sumo allowed the rules of the UFC Sumo could easily become the lauch pad for future San Shou superstars.

Of course, I mean you are dead on. Sumo and MMA are the perfect combination! Why didn't I think of that.

I am shutting down my BJJ and Submission Grappling programs now and will be re-opening soon with a SUMMA program.

The next big thing guys, don't miss out now.

LOL! Very good stuff.

I've found it's hard to bless the ring with salt with 4oz gloves on

Joemopalata I have always been a visionary IMHO. This Combat Sumo is so far out there that it exceedes the usual hey you got peanut butter on my chocohlate and hey you got chocolate in my peanut butter. I am glad you are on board. Here's how to make the transition without your students knowing what youre up to. Tell them you all will be practicising for the eventuality of fighting someone who is unstopable on the ground. So you have to stay upright , and to make it harder stay towards the middle , as in inside the ring. Dont count anything but 1 point at a time , downing or being pushed outside the ring. Once someone takes a 10 point lead they win.

I'm fairly certain he was joking about shutting down BJJ to take up Sumo. 'SuMMA' although catchy, probably won't be too popular.

Thank you Chapel for telling me that others have been "joking" with me. It seems that the path to martial perfection is a bumpy road.

Martial perfection may be a unattainable goal....

Martial perfection can be attainable with the perfect sport. We must give points for throwing others out of the ring. I wont go further than that right now. It's better to perfect one step at a time.

If you had to choose between san shou and ufc and justify your reasoning you should hide your unassailable reasoning with humor. Watch and learn. Other than having a fat man land on top of someone ,why not give points for throwing people out of the ring?

Oh no, I totally agree. I would even go so far as to say the ring should be surrounded by a moat. A moat with sharks with lasers attached to their heads. I mean, who would want to get thrown into a moat filled with laser sharks? Not me dude.

Your idea is not so outlandish as one might assume. I remember seeing the laser shark idea in a movie. Now that we are sharing it is just a matter of time until you come to see things my way.

Obviously we see eye to eye, or "laser to laser" you could say.
