Sorry Militis, I am not trying to knock what you are learning. I am a believer that if you can't do simple research to get your facts straight then how hard are you going to try to teach your students "real" martial arts. I'm not saying that your instructor isn't talented or even a good teacher. I have not seen what you do or trained with you. What I am saying is that people need to do thier research and be a bit sceptical...especially when it comes to martial arts. What you don't know CAN ( and often will )get you hurt.

I agree. Like I have said quite a few times now, but I want to make it clear. I don't even know him, and I study under an different person. Not to say that my master knows everything, but he knows something.

I will happily train in many places other than where I am. But right now, we are trapped in it because we paid a bunch of money, so I am going to get my money's worth by reaching black belt.

I don't disagree with any of your statements. I thought the guy looked phony when I saw his "White to black" DVD set.
Martialman, you are right. This isn't the best martial arts, but it is the best in my area. Besides, the practitioner decides how good his art is. And my art is very good because I make it good. I will not be here studying this style forever though.

Sorry. With due response as not to sound brashful,

The practitioner cannot decide how good his art is without full experience of it and/or other arts.

Like a artist/sculpturer, they do not know how good their work is until they have completed it and compared it to others. They cannot think that it is going to be good before such time.

A practicioner is limited by what he practices. You can only practice what you learn. If what you are learning isn't real and true, then no amount of practice will make it so. You can practice and make it pretty and smooth, but at its core it is still flawed. Its a teachers responsibility to make sure what he is teaching is not flawed and will not harm the student. However, the student needs to take some resposibility in choosing a teacher wisely, especially when large amounts of money and contracts are involved.

I hope that what you are learning gives you what you want.

A good response to those that go to China to learn "Shaolin Kung Fu".....
