"There is no harm in it other than it seems pointless to actually come to a conclusion."

Most threads on internet forums are fundamentally pointless. As this is somewhat entertaining, it works well enough.

"It is like saying what is the best auto, refrigerator, cultural cusine, etc....."

Those aforementioned things are entirely subjective and can't be quantified. On the other hand, a fight would almost certainly produce a victor.

"It is like "fantasy football""

But many people love fantasy football. Plus, the outcomes of fantasy sports are based around data drawn from real sports. We may never have seen J&J in a real fight, but we have some idea of what they are capable of. Do professional fighters not sit in to observe the fights of future opponents to ascertain their abilities?

1.) Very true indeed.

2.) A fantasy bout cant be quantified either.....

The quality of a refrigerator relies on how someone plans to use it. If we were comparing two refrigerators in terms of which would save on the electric bill, this could be quantified and we'd have a definite answer.

Similarly, we are talking about winning a fight, not about who's "better." We can make an educated guess just as we could for two fighters who actually were about to fight.

Not really, if there are two refrigerators with the same space and energy consumption and the same price, but different brands...then it will be of preference..as these "this vs that"

And simply, winning a fight cannot be so, because the outcome is upon the actual event.

As we have seen live fighters win against their opponent one time, and loose against the same another....

So dont explain the logics of fantasy as it is what it is....

I would go with Jet Li only because Jackie has had so many injuries in the past that he can hardly even run anymore. He knees are shot, arthritis set into his joints, etc. Not saying he couldn't hold his own, but untimately Jet Li would win.

Jet Li is a damn lot better at acting and he was also a national level wushu practitioner and he's also quite a lot younger, but neither of them have proved themselves in a ring to my knowledge so it could go either way.

Yeah, that's probably a good reason to back Jet Li. Also, Jackie Chan comes across as being such a nice guy I reckon he lacks a killer instinct.

Btw: for those interested there is another Chan vs Li thread in the Martial Arts Action Stars forum entitled "Jet Li vs Jackie Chan" by LittleDragon117. It's an older thread so I'm kinda glad someone else has re-done a new Chan vs Li thread.

The most recent one (and only one) I know is "The Forbidden Kingdom" that came out recently.

Jet Li had the fastest hands in the world at one point, didn't he? I don't think Chan could beat him...

My question is a three-way battle between Tony Jaa, Jackie Chan and Jet Li -- with the latter in their primes.

Pretty decent movie. It's really meant more for kids than adults, but I enjoyed watching it enough. Maybe too much wire work and not enough down-to-earth fight choreography.

The Forbidden Kingdom, since I assumed that's what Sensei Tom was talking about.

Ah, yeah, I mentioned it too in a earlier post. When it's a fantasy story like that, it doesn't really bother me how outlandish the character's fighting abilities are, it's just fun. If it was something based in the real world, then I get a little more severe on how far they take the stunts.
